Do you love to eat seafood, but find it intimating to cook? Maybe you are an avid cook that would like to learn more about how to prepare delicious ocean focused dishes?


Join Afishionado, Abundant Acres and Lock & Key Saturday January 20th from 7-9 pm at Afishionado Fishmongers for an evening of sustainable seafood cooking skills, followed by a 5-course meal featuring the products demonstrated. Learn how to fillet a fish, shuck an oyster, and what seafood products to use in what dishes, such as the perfect filling for handmade seafood dumplings! After getting hands on, relax for the remainder of the evening and enjoy beautifully prepared dishes featuring Afishionado sustainable seafood and Abundant Acres produce.


A fun evening to share with a friend, or loved one, learning a new skill over delectable seafood fare!



Oysters two ways:

Raw – Ginger, shallot, pickled daikon.
Cooked – Tempura, spinach veloute.



Russet potato soup, with roasted garlic and root beer oil, salmon roe.

Surf and Turf

Tuna wontons, braised oxtail gyoza, sashimi, caramelized lime aioli.



Confit arctic char, sturgeon tortellini, sautéed kale and cabbage, smoked mackerel rillette.



Whole baked apple crumble, with pink peppercorn caramel, apple jacks, whipped cream


Afishionado Fishmongers specializes in supplying restaurants, retailers, institutions, and individuals with fresh and fresh-frozen top quality sustainable seafood from small-scale, community-based fishers and aquaculturalists.


We build and maintain close relationships with those who catch and grow our fish. We work hard to help foster a fair, transparent, and sustainable exchange of seafood from the ocean to your kitchen.

Abundant Acres is a 100 acre farm on the shore of the Bay of Fundy, 1 hour northwest of Halifax.  Our specialty is growing the best tasting, most nutritious vegetables possible.  We have a passion for training new farmers by hiring a dynamic crew from our neighbourhood and across the country.  In the past few years, three of our former employees have started farms.  This is certainly the crop we are most happy to see.  You can find our produce year round at The Warehouse Market 2867 Isleville St.  Thursday and Friday, 11-7 and Saturday 9-1.

    What a fun event! The food was fantastic and I loved learning a few skills to help prepare seafood at home. I will definitely be serving oysters at my next dinner party!
